The momentous occasion kicks off a year-long celebration honoring the cruise line’s guests, business partners, employees and crew.

The two new “Meraviglia-Plus” ships to feature increased tonnage and overall size
Geneva, Switzerland, February 1, 2016 – Today at the coin ceremony for MSC Meraviglia held in Saint-Nazaire, France, MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and market leader in Europe, South America and South Africa, confirmed the existing STX France options to build an additional two ships in the Meraviglia class. Furthermore, the two new next-generation ships known as Meraviglia-Plus will feature increased tonnage and overall size, totaling 2,444 staterooms and a double occupancy of 4,888 guests.
The two new units will now be completed respectively in October 2019 and December 2020, thus delivering the last of the now four Meraviglia STX France made-ships by nearly two years earlier than expected. In another MSC Cruises industry-first, the two Meraviglia-Plus ships will feature the first and only classic and contemporary fine art museum at sea. MSC Cruises today also announced that MSC Meraviglia will be christened in Le Havre, France. The MSC Cruises Meraviglia-Plus class is the next-level generation of ships for all seasons.
With cutting-edge design and exceptional features, the elegant side of the Mediterranean is brought to life in the mastery of every detail. Boasting an additional 200 staterooms and a maximum capacity of nearly 6,300 guests, these 1,085 foot-long vessels will be the largest ships at sea able to call at any port, thus maximizing guests’ choices of itineraries and desinations.
The unique public spaces filled with boutiques, restaurants and tranquil spots for shopping, eating and relaxing as well as socializing have also been enhanced. The interior promenade is now an impressive 362 feet-long and the now-310 by 20 feet LED sky screen above it will display visual events and vistas around the clock to animate the entire promenade to create an unique atmospheric experience.
Another key distinguishing element of the MSC Cruises experience is its commitment to making the richest array of entertainment available to its guests. With the recently announced partnership with Cirque du Soleil, MSC Cruises and Cirque du Soleil have co-designed purpose-built dining and entertainment venues that center around the theatrical, aecrobatic style of shows that will be performed. In addition to the exciting entertainment, MSC Meraviglia-Plus ships will feature a unique, cultural experience for guests at sea with the first of its kind classic and contemporary fine art museum.

MIAMI, May 12, 2016 – Royal Caribbean International today honored the crew and project team of the new Harmony of the Seas at a traditional delivery and flag changing ceremony in Saint Nazaire, France. Following 32 months of construction at the STX France shipyard involving thousands of shipyard employees, sub-contractors and suppliers, the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship is now home to 2,100 crew members from 77 different nationalities.
Costing more than a $1billion, Harmony of the Seas will be the 25th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet and boasts highly anticipated first-at-sea experiences, including: A 100-foot drop with The Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea, plunging courageous adrenaline seekers 10 stories down from deck 16 to the Boardwalk on deck 6 4,700,000 lbs. (2,150 tons) of water in 23 swimming pools, whirlpools, two FlowRider surf simulators and waterslides, including the Perfect Storm, a thrilling trio of waterslides, and the Splashaway Bay waterpark for young guests.
The first double-story Wonderland, the specialty restaurant concept first introduced onboard the global cruise line’s Quantum class of ships delivering an imaginative and whimsical feast for all the senses.

Harmony of the Seas will homeport in Barcelona, Spain and embark on the first of 34 seven-night sailings in the western Mediterranean on June 7, exploring some of Europe’s most beautiful locations. In November 2016, Harmony will arrive at her homeport of Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, FL., from where she will offer seven-night eastern and western Caribbean sailings.

VOOM allows guests vacationing with Royal Caribbean to always stay connected and to stream their favorite music, movies and TV shows to stay up to date on the latest happenings. Whether they are posting envy-inducing vacation photos on Instagram or Snapchat, or video-chatting with loved ones back home using FaceTime or Skype, travelers can share their adventures in real-time with family and friends. Guests can even relax or chill poolside while catching up on their favorite TV show or the newest movie.

Surf packages start at $12.99 per device per day with additional devices added at a discounted cost. Family packages – 5 devices or more – start as low as $8.99 per device per day.
Surf and Stream, which is ideal for guests looking to do more than connect via email or social channels, but also want the capability to stream movies and music from Netflix or Spotify, and to connect using video chat apps such as Skype. This package is available for $17.99 per device per day.
Additional devices can be connected at a discount and family packages – 5 devices or more – start as low as $11.99 per device per day. This pricing is a significant improvement from the standard programs currently offered throughout the industry, many of which charge on a per-minute basis.
Royal Caribbean International is offering holiday cruises departing from nine domestic homeports, including Bayonne, N.J.; Baltimore, Md.; Fort Lauderdale; Miami; Port Canaveral; Tampa, Fla.; Galveston, Texas; Los Angeles; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Royal Caribbean will deck its ships with seasonal decorations to embrace the holiday spirit throughout December. Royal Caribbean offers Hanukkah-themed festivities lasting all eight days of the holiday, including a rabbi aboard every ship to conduct a nightly menorah-lighting ceremony and services.
For those celebrating Christmas, a Catholic priest also will be aboard to lead the holiday’s observances including a midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.
