Mexico City prepares to host inaugural tourism fair

The organizers of FITA, the International Tourism Fair of the Americas, are expecting thousands of travel industry professionals and consumers from the Mexico City area to attend the new event, to be held at the Expo Bancomer Santa Fe convention center in Mexico City Sept. 23 to 26.

The fair, organized by the Mexico City Tourism Board with the support of the Mexico Tourism Board and other sponsors, is designed to showcase Mexico City by bringing travel industry exhibitors and buyers from around the world to the city each year for an annual industry fair much like ITB in Berlin and World Travel Market in London, said Juan Carlos Arnau, Mexico City Tourism Board's manager of strategic projects.
