Sunday, 07/06/2009 Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, the family owned Spanish hospitality company, is growing its portfolio with the addition of five new properties in Turkey, Tunisia, Greece and Cuba. The new hotel openings bring the brand’s current roster to more than 100 properties and marks Iberostar’s entrance into a 16th country, Turkey. “The addition of these five properties shows that Iberostar is committed to expanding into a variety of markets to meet the needs of today’s travelers,” said John Long, vice president of sales and marketing for Iberostar. “With our expansion in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic earlier this year, plus these new properties, Iberostar is planning to significantly increase its portfolio over the next five years, strengthening its presence in geographical areas where hotels already exists, as well as diversifying its product portfolio into new segments of the hotel business and into international destinations.”
The new properties include the Iberostar Bellis, located on the beach of Belek in Turkey; the Iberostar Laguna Azul, an 814 room all-inclusive five-star property, situated along a stretch of beach 20 minutes from downtown Varadero (Cuba); the Iberostar Lindos Imperial (Rhodes, Greece); the Iberostar Odysseus (Kos, Greece), and the Iberostar Palmyre in Tunisia
